Binance has severed all connections to third-party trading tool SignalPlus after the platform reported an undisclosed potential security breach, the exchange announced on Thursday. In response, Binance terminated all active API keys associated with the Hong Kong-based options and derivatives software, characterizing the step as an immediate precautionary intervention to safeguard user accounts.
The exchange confirmed that its internal infrastructure remains fully secure and that customer balances were unaffected by the incident. Because API keys grant external software programmatic authority to execute automated trades, revoking them immediately disables all active algorithmic trading strategies routed through SignalPlus. Binance advised affected clients to sign directly into their exchange accounts to audit active orders and open positions, warning users to delay generating new credentials until SignalPlus verifies the security vulnerability has been completely resolved.
Furthermore, Binance instructed traders to enforce IP whitelisting on all regenerated keys to limit access to pre-approved networks, while urging other third-party integrated platforms to review their internal security controls and monitor for anomalous behavior. SignalPlus operates an advanced trading interface that connects to several major cryptocurrency exchanges to facilitate options and derivatives execution.
The precautionary shutdown comes as Binance navigates the aftermath of an unprecedented cyberattack on October 29, in which hackers drained approximately $6.4 billion from its hot wallets. Federal investigators attributed that breach to North Korea’s TraderTraitor syndicate, who allegedly infiltrated internal signing services via a malware-laden employment scam targeting a Binance engineer.
Binance stated on Wednesday that it has already reimbursed roughly 98% of the stolen capital using company reserves, acquiring the remainder via spot and over-the-counter desks. The exchange has expanded its proof-of-reserves protocol across 44 digital assets and commenced a phased reopening of customer withdrawals based on market demand.
