Circle, the issuer of the USDC stablecoin, has announced a strategic partnership with cryptocurrency exchange OKX, aiming to simplify the purchase, trading, and transfer of USDC across various blockchains. This collaboration provides OKX’s global user base, exceeding 60 million, with a seamless one-to-one on-ramp and off-ramp between U.S. dollars and USDC directly through OKX’s platform.
The agreement is designed to significantly enhance global access to digital dollars and further integrate Circle’s stablecoin into the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem. Jeremy Allaire, co-founder and CEO of Circle, emphasized the growing demand for USDC from businesses and individuals seeking to adopt this “new form of high-utility and internet-based money.” As part of the initiative, both companies will also launch joint educational campaigns focused on stablecoins, targeting developers, traders, and everyday users.
The partnership comes as Circle, which recently completed an initial public offering reaching a market valuation over $51 billion, continues to expand USDC’s footprint. The stablecoin’s circulating supply currently exceeds $61 billion. Amid ongoing discussions in Congress regarding federal oversight of stablecoins, Circle is also actively pursuing a U.S. national banking license from the Office of the Comptroller, a move that would enable the company to custody its own stablecoin reserves.
