Ethereum Co-Founder Reveals Project to Make Blockchain Computers Mainstream

Canada uses blockchain for supply chain

Ethereum, Decentral, and Jaxx Liberty co-founder Anthony Di Iorio announced an initiative that took a decade for him to conceptualize, plan, and create — the Andiami project. This project combines game theory with cutting-edge hardware in order to make blockchain computers more accessible for a wider audience.

The multi-year project aims to combat blockchain centralization by making it possible for cryptocurrency users to operate full nodes without requiring any technical knowledge. A machine that maintains the entire transactional data of a blockchain network is known as a full node.

The project’s planned completion date is 2025. The project’s game-theoretic elements, including The Quest for Liberty, a player kit, and the Digital Life Tokens that users obtain in the game, are the central focus of the first year of its development (2023).

The “Cube” — a plug-and-play blockchain computer that runs full nodes for networks including Bitcoin and Ethereum — is Andiami’s flagship hardware product and is given some attention from 2024 to 2025.

The technological requirements for running full nodes can overwhelm many crypto consumers. Di Iorio hopes that The Cube’s plug-and-play functionality, along with well-designed interactivity, would make it simple and enjoyable for users to operate the full node for their preferred network, thereby decentralizing blockchain infrastructure.

The Quest for Liberty, a game where players purchase player kits comprising puzzles that can be completed to acquire Digital Life Tokens, is the focal point of the Andiami project’s early stage. According to Di Iorio, player kits will cost around $500 to $5,000 to purchase.

Users must purchase player kits containing “Non-Fungible Phygitals” (NFPs), which are tangible products like player cards embedded with NFC (near-field communication) identification processors to connect the digital and physical worlds.

Players will use “Proof of Puzzle Solve” (POPS) to access Digital Life Tokens, which will serve as the standard form of payment in the Andiami ecosystem, after they have player kits and “phygitals” in their possession.

The launch of The Cube will mark the culmination of Andiami. It is a dedicated plug-and-play computer made especially to operate a range of complete nodes. Di Iorio aims to create blockchain computers for cryptocurrency users, similar to gaming consoles for gamers.

The objective of Andiami is to further decentralise the cryptocurrency infrastructure. The majority of the cryptocurrency industry’s infrastructure is either delegated to infrastructure companies like Infura or run on massive cloud computing platforms including Amazon Web Services (AWS). The end goal of Andiami is to transition that infrastructure to ordinary users by making running a full node less daunting.

Making a “node sharing” protocol that links Cube owners across the Internet and enabling them to receive incomes for sharing their infrastructure resources is one approach to facilitate that transition.
