Miami Mayor Francis Suarez’s Presidential Campaign to Accept Bitcoin Donations: Report

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez has announced that his presidential campaign will accept donations in bitcoin (BTC). Supporters can contribute as little as 0.00034 bitcoin, equivalent to $1, through FrancisSuarez.com, signaling his commitment to leveraging digital assets for campaign funding.

His stance on cryptocurrency regulation differed from the current administration’s approach, as he emphasized the need for clear guidelines and rules rather than an enforcement-heavy regulatory strategy, media reports said.

Moreover, Suarez vocalized his opposition to a central bank digital currency, stressing the importance of maintaining financial privacy and autonomy from government oversight.

Being a Republican candidate in the crowded race for the GOP nomination, Suarez’s enthusiasm for bitcoin should come as no surprise. He has long been a proponent of digital assets, particularly bitcoin, which he believes will revolutionize wealth distribution for every American.

Suarez’s dedication to establishing Miami as a leading bitcoin hub is well-known, and he even receives his salary in bitcoin. Additionally, he has ventured into the crypto space by launching MiamiCoin (MIA) in 2021, with the intention of using it to provide recurring bitcoin stimulus payments to Miami citizens, similar to a company’s shareholder dividends.
