Bitcoin Price Rebounds Above $78,000 as Democratic Midterm Sweep Spurs Regulatory Questions

Bitcoin rebounded above the $78,000 threshold on Wednesday, recovering to around $78,134 after briefly dropping toward $75,700. The volatile price action followed projections of a Democratic victory in both chambers of Congress during the U.S. midterm elections, raising renewed questions regarding future digital asset legislation and the stalled CLARITY Act.

The price recovery pushed Bitcoin back into positive territory over a 24-hour window, although it remains below its October peak near $86,000. Major altcoins mirrored the broader stabilization, with Ether trading near $2,300, Solana climbing toward $93, and BNB hovering around $700. In contrast, Asian equities and U.S. stock futures showed modest weakness as global markets evaluated potential U.S. economic policy shifts.

On-chain and market data reveal mixed sentiment among investors. Analytics firm Santiment reported a sharp decline in retail sentiment, with Bitcoin’s bullish-to-bearish commentary ratio dropping to 0.51. Institutional flows also softened, as U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $115.56 million in net daily outflows on November 3, extending a trend of multi-day withdrawals.

Conversely, derivatives markets signaled persistent bullish leverage. Binance’s Bitcoin futures funding rate jumped to a two-month high of 0.01, indicating that traders holding long positions are actively paying short holders to maintain exposure. However, analysts caution that high leverage could increase liquidation risks if prices reverse.

From a technical perspective, momentum indicators remain cautious. Bitcoin faces immediate overhead resistance at $78,000, followed by key hurdles at $79,000 and $80,000. On the downside, analysts are monitoring support levels at $76,500 and $75,500 to gauge whether the current recovery can hold.
