Thai SEC Files Criminal Complaint Against Bitget Operator and Orders Access Block by December 5

Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed a formal criminal complaint against BG Limited, the operator of the cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, and an accomplice for operating an unlicensed digital asset trading platform. In addition to pursuing legal prosecution, the regulatory authority has ordered a nationwide block on all Bitget websites and mobile applications, which is scheduled to take effect on December 5, 2026.

The complaint, lodged with the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECSD), follows an investigation revealing that Bitget conducted unauthorized digital asset exchange operations between 2022 and 2025. The regulator determined that the platform charged transaction fees, presented prices in Thai baht, and directly targeted local investors. These promotional activities were carried out across various Thai-language social media channels, including accounts on X, Telegram, and TikTok. The SEC concluded that these actions breach Section 26 of the Digital Asset Business Act B.E. 2561 (2018), an offense punishable under Section 66.

Authorities also cited Kritsana Kritsananuwat as an accomplice for actively aiding Bitget’s operations. Kritsana allegedly expanded the platform’s domestic reach by promoting its services through the “Srisiam” Facebook page and YouTube channel, violating Section 26 in conjunction with Section 86 of the Criminal Code. The case now moves through the criminal enforcement pipeline, progressing from police investigation to public prosecutor indictment and judicial trial.

Under the Cyber Crime Prevention and Suppression Act, the SEC submitted Bitget’s platform information to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society to execute the access block. The regulator urged investors to manage and withdraw their assets before the December 5 cutoff, warning that unlicensed platforms lack legal protections and present elevated fraud and money laundering risks.
